FIRM RESPONSE
THIS REFERS to the editorial, ‘Loud and clear’ (IE, September 28). External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s speech to the UNGA was well-drafted, crisp and balanced. Swaraj did well by speaking in Hindi because she had to connect to the domestic audience as well as global listeners. That Pakistan is nurturing terror by sheltering, arming and funding terrorists could not have been stressed more emphatically. Nawaz Sharif was told not to “dream about Kashmir”. This was perhaps the most direct and scathing indictment ever of a Pakistani head of state by an Indian minister.

RIGHT ON CLIMATE
THIS REFERS to the editorial,’yeasayers’ (IE, September 27). The current government has been focusing on ecofriendly technologies like solar energy to fulfill the country’s energy demand. Corporations like Tesla can a play a big role in this journey.

THIS REFERS to the editorial, ‘Yeasayers’. The environment is not bound by national boundaries and there is no gain by saying that India’s culpability in pollution vis-a-vis developed countries is minimal. India has to do its bit and its policies should be in sync with international policies. Venika Singhal, Delhi
