Will PM quit if cash woes continue: Lalu

- SANTOSH SINGH

RASHTRIYA JANATA Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad on Thursday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi whether he would quit if he was unable to keep his promise of addressing problems people were facing because of demonetisation within 50 days.

“PM ke 50 din mohlat me 22 din baki hai. 50 din baad bhi sthiti samanya nahi huyi to kya Modiji istifa denge ya muh chhupate ghumenge (Only 22 days to go for the PM’S 50-day deadline. If the situation does not improve after 50 days, will Modi resign or look for cover),’’ he tweeted.

Lalu accused Modi of hiding behind promises to create cashless economy. He added that there was no point harping on going cashless when only 20 per cent people were able transact online. “Na pradhan mantri, na mantri na aarthik salah karon ya Niti Aayog ko gaawon ki samajh hai. Graminon ki vyatha ko samahjna to door ki koudi hogi (Neither Prime Minister nor his ministers, economic advisors or Niti Aayog understand villages. Expecting them to understand problems of villagers would be asking for too much),’’ tweeted Prasad.
