CONSENSUS, FINALLY

SPEAKER SUMITRA Mahajan, who more than once lost her cool at protesting Opposition MPS for disrupting Lok Sabha proceedings, could not hold back a smile, as, in a rare show of consensus, members agreed that there should be no proceedings next Monday. Mahajan announced that some members had requested that the sitting of the House be cancelled on December 12 because of Eid-e-milad. As the members replied with a resounding yes, Mahajan said, “Chutti ke liye sab taiyaar hai (Everyone agrees to a holiday).”
