Woman dies of heart attack in queue
A 48-YEAR-OLD woman died of heart attack after a guard allegedly pushed her at a Punjab Nationalbankbranchinludhiana on Thursday.
Eyewitnesses said Asha Rani was pushed when she got her turn to withdraw cash. They said she fell down and suffered heart attack. She was taken to hospital but could not be saved.
Rani had been visiting the bank for four days to withdraw cash for her daughter’s wedding in February. She was given a token on Wednesday and told to come a day later to get the cash.
Her family staged a sit-in outside the bank along with her body till late Thursday evening before officialsstruckacompromise.the family had earlier demanded that a case be registered against the bank guard and manager.
ADCP Paramjeet Singh Goraya said that Rani’s son, Parvinder Singh, would be given Rs 5 lakh compensation.
