Bank manager among 3 held

Kolkata: Three accused, including the deputy manager of Axis bank, were sentenced to three days in police custody by the Bankshal court on Thursday, following their arrest by the CBI on the same day.

The arrested have been identified as Amitesh Sinha, Sanjay Jain and Manoj Kumar Mondal alias Manoj Gupta. Sources said they were arrested for allegedly conspiring and converting black money into white through bogus company accounts. The CBI anti-corruption branch arrested Amitesh Sinha, the deputy manager of a private bank in Burrabazar, along with the other accused under various sections of the IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act 1988.

According to officials, the accused have so far deposited Rs 7 crore through accounts of bogus companies. The ED and I-T officials conducted raids across the state on December 6. ENS
