TICKET TROUBLE

-

AMARINDER SINGH has been promising, almost every day, to rid Punjab of the drug menace within four weeks if the Congress comes to power. Having joined the party on Monday, Navjot Singh Sidhu also assured strong action against drug cartels. Yet, the party has gone ahead and given ticket to Inderbir Bolaria to contest from Amritsar (South) constituency, a decision that has surprised and angered many in the party. Bolaria, a former minister in the SAD-BJP government and close confidant of Punjab revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia, had been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in the controversial Bhola drug racket case. He had joined the Congress after being suspended by SAD following that episode.
