Ex­plore stack park­ing op­tion in Delhi: L-G to civic bod­ies

New Delhi: Lieu­tenant Gover­nor Anil Bai­jal Thurs­day directed all three mu­nic­i­pal cor­po­ra­tions to ex­plore the op­tion of stack park­ing in the cap­i­tal. There are presently two stack park­ing fa­cil­i­ties in Sadar Pa­har­ganj and Karol Bagh un­der the North Cor­po­ra­tion.

How­ever, ar­eas fall­ing un­der South and East cor­po­ra­tions do not have stack park­ing fa­cil­i­ties. The di­rec­tion was is­sued dur­ing a meet­ing of se­nior of­fi­cials of the three civic bod­ies, chaired by the L-G. “Re­viewed clean­li­ness & other is­sues with the 3 MCDS. Stack park­ing to be ex­plored swiftly scal­able & space- ef­fi­cient (sic),” the L-G tweeted.

While the North DMC has six multi-level park­ing fa­cil­i­ties, the SDMC has seven. “In a stack fa­cil­ity,carsareparke­d­i­nas­tacked-up fash­ion on a grill-made struc­ture, which­hast­woorthree­plat­forms. Cars from the bot­tom are moved me­chan­i­cally to the top level first and then the lower lev­els are filled,” an of­fi­cial said. PTI
