Explore stack parking option in Delhi: L-G to civic bodies

-

New Delhi: Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal Thursday directed all three municipal corporations to explore the option of stack parking in the capital. There are presently two stack parking facilities in Sadar Paharganj and Karol Bagh under the North Corporation.

However, areas falling under South and East corporations do not have stack parking facilities. The direction was issued during a meeting of senior officials of the three civic bodies, chaired by the L-G. “Reviewed cleanliness & other issues with the 3 MCDS. Stack parking to be explored swiftly scalable & space- efficient (sic),” the L-G tweeted.

While the North DMC has six multi-level parking facilities, the SDMC has seven. “In a stack facility,carsareparkedinastacked-up fashion on a grill-made structure, whichhastwoorthreeplatforms. Cars from the bottom are moved mechanically to the top level first and then the lower levels are filled,” an official said. PTI
