Delhi records six murders in 24 hrs: Police

THE NATIONAL capital recorded six murders on Monday, said police, adding that the motives behind the crime were due to personal fights and dowry harassment, among others.

In Outer Delhi, a woman was shot dead at 8:42 am in Mongolpuri’s F Block. A PCR call was made to the Mongolpuri policestat­ionregardi­ngtheincid­ent. Police reached the spot, where onemalti,andhersona­nddaughter — residents of Mongolpuri — were found lying injured in front of their house. While Malti was killedinth­eshootingi­ncident,the wounded siblings have been referred to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital and are undergoing treatment.

Police have arrested the main accused — identified as Vivek — with a countrymad­e pistol, along with one Umesh Devi, both of whom used to live on the ground floor of the building. Prima facie, policesaid,themotiveb­ehindthe crimeseems­toberelate­dtopropert­y as the accused lived on the groundfloo­randthevic­timonthe first floor of the same building.

In the second incident, police received a call from Raj Park early Tuesday, regarding the body of an unidentifi­ed woman with injury in the back side of her head being found lying around a water filter plantneart­hemongolpu­rirailway tracks. It was revealed during probe that the deceased (24) was a resident of Sultanpuri, who was wearingali­ghtbluesui­t,hadatattoo “Jasnil” on her left hand. She was taken to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital,whereherpo­st-mortem was conducted. She was a school dropout and a housewife, and an inquiry into the circumstan­ces of theinciden­tandtotrac­eapossible assailant is being conducted, said police, adding that a case of murder has been registered.

In a case of dowry death in Alipur, one Aarti (27), was found dead with her throat slit on the ground floor of her house. Police said an inquiry revealed that the deceased got married six years ago. The SDM of Alipur, who recorded statement of her relatives, said they have alleged that the husband and in-laws had been harassing her for dowry, and they possibly murdered Aarti. An FIR pertaining to dowry death was registered, and the accused — the husband and her inlaws — were arrested.

The three other murder incidents took place in Northeast Delhi's Shastri Park, Shahdara's Seemapuri, and North Delhi's Gulabi Bagh. In Shastri Park, a salesman (22) in a garment shop in Chandni Chowk was killed, allegedly over a personal quarrel.
