Heritage circle, noise- cancellation screens along flyovers to feature in BJP manifesto
A HERITAGE circle connecting religious structures such as temples and other monuments, along with Yamuna banks; Gas pipelines to far- off villages; noise- cancellation screens along highways and flyovers; and transit home facilities on the four borders of Delhi to provide accommodation to people coming to the Capital for work: These are among key promises that would find mention in the Delhi BJP’S manifesto for the Lok Sabha polls.
According to sources, the manifesto will have 20 heads focusing on key problems currently being faced by the people of Delhi such as road transport infrastructure, pollution and water, along with new promises. A BJP leader said that the party is designing the manifesto after taking suggestions and feedback from the public.
Sources said the manifesto would likely be announced in the first week of May. “Our manifesto is going to be people- centric and will be used to resolve micro- level issues of Delhi residents... We launched a mobile van and also collected suggestions digitally... around 20,000 people gave their feedback. We observed that a large number of people had the same concerns or problems. So, after compiling all the feedback, the party shortlisted around 830 suggestions and began the manifesto- designing work,” said a Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) leader.

workers also visited several places and locations of Delhi to understand the key problems plaguing the residents. “There will be around 20 heads focusing on the city's pollution problem, how to address it and BJP'S plan in the direction for the next five years....,” the leader said, adding: “The road infrastructure is very poor and so is the transportation connectivity. The frequency of buses in outer Delhi is low. These will be highlighted in our manifesto. Central government is already supporting electrification of buses and will continue to do so, thereby increasing the fleet in the Capital.”
Other issues through which the BJP is hoping to garner votes are public health, education, insitu plan for unorganised sector ( jahan jhuggi, wahaan ghar), drinking water, drainage management and other plans for gated as well as non- gated residential areas. Sources said Delhi BJP’S manifesto will also talk about unauthorised colonies. The party promised to open start- up and self- employment kendras ( centres).
“Final work is underway with regard to the manifesto. As soon as the nomination process is completed, the manifesto for Delhi will be launched... most probably in the f irst week of May,” said a source.
