JEE Main Results 2024: Cut- offs increase, record 56 candidates score 100 percentile

THE NATIONAL Testing Agency ( NTA) Wednesday released the Joint Entrance Examinatio­n ( JEE) Main 2024 result for the April session.

The cut- off scores for various sections of candidates were increased this year, with the highest increase being for the Economical­ly Weaker Section category, which jumped from last year’s 63.11 to 75.62 this year.

A total of 56 candidates — 13 more than last year — have received 100 NTA score in Paper 1 ( BE/ Btech), of which two are girls.

Out of a total 9.24 lakh candidates registered, 8.2 lakh appeared for the JEE Main 2024 exams, held in January and April.

In the January session, a total of 23 had reached the 100 percentile mark.

Like last year, Telangana has reported the highest number of candidates scoring 10 0 percentile. A total of 15 students from the state scored the top place this year, followed by Maharashtr­a and Andhra Pradesh, who have 7 students each with 100 percentile.

However, states like West Bengal, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisga­rh, who had a topper each last year have not gotten any this time.

Total number of unique candidates registered in both sessions ( January/ April) of the JEE main 2024 were 1476557, of which 1415110 appeared for the exams. This time, 1067959 out of 1179569 appeared for the session 2 exams, out of which 377921 were general students, 134 465 were general EWS, 416440 were OBC- NCL, 103422 were SC and 35711 were ST candidates.

This time, for general category candidates, the cut off for JEE ( Advanced) was 93.23 which increased from last year’s 90.77.

For SC candidates, the cut- off this year was 60.09, a big jump from 51.97 in 2023.

The Other Backward Classes ( non- creamy layer) cut off has also increased to 79.67 this time from 73.61 in 2023.
