New Got season will be ‘mind-boGGlinG’

-

LOS ANGELES: Jack Bender, who will direct episodes 5 and 6 of the coming sixth season of Game of Thrones, described the next batch of episodes as “mind boggling”. Bender, who has directed close to 40 episodes of Lost, is among the five directors who will each helm the two episodes of HBO’s hit drama. He has read most of the scripts for the next season, which will be the first time that the series steps out of the storyline set by the book as the long-awaited sixth book in the series of A Song of Fire and Ice is yet to be released. According to Bender, Game of Thrones showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff “are enormously brilliant and unpretentious guys, and I know they communicate closely with author (R.R.) Martin”, and so, the degree to which the next season deviated from the book is not of much concern to him. “This is how I look at it. As a director on Lost, for example, I liked to say we get recipes from ( Lost showrunners) Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. Then, me and the writers and the rest of the team, we’d cook the meal. That’s always how I saw the metaphor,” Bender said.
