Dates announced for techno festival

- BY OUR CORRESPONDENT MARK OGDEN

Said to be one of the “50 best music festivals in the world” by Time Out magazine, experiential music festival Magnetic Fields has announced dates for its fourth edition. The three-day arts and music festival will take place from 9-11 December at Alsisar Mahal, Rajasthan, the 17th century palace-turnedhotel that provides the perfect backdrop for Magnetic Fields' handpicked showcase of music and the arts.

The festival, that has grown by 200% since its debut in 2013, claims to be an immersive, curated experience — with secret, dawn-breaking parties — unlike any other on the Indian circuit. The festival will continue to be a limited capacity event.

Just like in its previous editions, the festival will host two main stages — the North stage ( night stage), and the South stage (day stage). The Rajputana Palace will hear the strains of music round the day as acts are slated to perform during the afternoon on the lawns before curtains open on the North stage. The music on the North stage is programmed to go on till late into the night and for those unwilling to call it a night, Magnetic Fields also features dawn-breaking, popup parties throughout the weekend — a definite and popular highlight of the festival.

Music at the Desert Disco Oasis stage will greet campers every noon before the main stages kick off, providing a soundtrack to the Bedouin Village.

Red Bull Music Academy North Stage returns to Alsisar Mahal and will feature some of the world's most exciting new talent and favourites from the world of electronic music. Portugal captain Ronaldo will miss Thursday's friendly at Wembley after being given permission to take a pretournament holiday by coach Fernando Santos following Real Madrid's Champions League final victory against Atletico Madrid in Milan last Saturday.

Despite the Football Association selecting Portugal for the Wembley send-off fixture partly due to Ronaldo's star status — the former Manchester United winger has not played at the stadium since the 2007 FA Cup Final — the 31-year-old has instead spent his week holidaying on a yacht in Ibiza.

With only Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand unavailable against Portugal due to an unspecified injury, Hodgson could field his planned starting XI for the Euro 2016 opener against Russia at Wembley.

But he insists that it is too early for him to settle on a team for that game in Marseille on June 11.

“I have been close to the line-up for Russia for a long time because I have worked with these players for a long time.

“But I know the players and we are capable of playing against Russia with two XIs. That might be a slight exaggeration, but not far off.

“Headaches still exist in terms of spiking the final XI that will start the first game, but I hope we will go beyond
