All set for the Monsoon race

The stage is set for the seventh edition of the NamahNaini­tal Mountain Monsoon Marathon. This mega event which is held annually on the last Sunday of August, event brings some good news and vibes from the mountains to the rest of nation.

The current edition in continuati­on with the previous ones is likely to see some long distance athletes from countries like Ethiopia and Kenya participat­e. Also some star Indian athletes and amateur runners will gather in Nainital to put in their best effort. In recent times, Uttarakhan­d has given a new hope to long distance running and walking events. It is worth mentioning here that at the Rio Olympics, out of 4 sportsmen from the state, three of them are representi­ng India in 20 Km walking & full marathon.

These sportsmen are Nitendra Singh Rawat (42 km full marathon), Gurmeet Singh & Manish Rawat (20 kms walking event). Since its inception, this event has been supported by Uttarakhan­d Tourism, Sidcul and The Manu Maharani Hotel.

This year the event will be sponsored by Namah, a premium luxury brand of DS Hospitalit­y. Uttrakhand Tourism Department is the co sponsor--. the theme of the marathon is to promote Uttrakhand tourism during monsoons.
