DIAL flies high, sets performance records
The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has achieved many major milestones over the past 10 years. The most important milestone was the commissioning of an integrated Terminal Building in time for the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2010.
Some of the other milestones in DIAL’s 10-year journey, considered a PPP success story in India, are:
Commissioning Operations of the third runway ( September 2008) which is capable of han- dling A-380 operations and has helped ease congestion and capacity.
Commissioning of the new domestic Terminal — T1 D (April 2009) — which has helped de-congest the domestic traffic and increase the overall passenger service quality.
Commissioning operations of the new integrated terminal — T3 ( July 2010) — which helped transform the IGI Airport into a world-class airport.
Commissioning of a captive Solar Power Plant of 2.14 MW ( January 2014) which has subsequently been enhanced to 7.84 MW. The focus has been on green initiatives by using renewable energy.
The Air Cargo Logistics Centre (May 2015) was the first of its kind logistics centre at an Indian airport.
Recognised as the World #1 Airport (25-40 MPPA) in the ACI ASQ survey for two consecutive years ( 2014 and 2015), which is testimony of the improvements in passenger service quality.
