NIKe maKes self lace uP shoes
NEW YORK: Nike’s latest release is a lot like Marty McFly’s kicks, self-lacing sneakers that were inspired by the cult film Back to the Future II. HyperAdapt 1.0 can lace themselves, thanks to an internal cable system comprising a fishing line and a pressure sensor located in the sole that responds to the weight of your foot as you move with “an algorithmic pressure equation.” The heels of the shoes also light up to signal when the shoe is tightening and when the batteries need to be charged — which by Nike’s estimation, should take about two weeks to run low. Charging fully takes three hours.
