Tyagis were planning other deals: C. Michel

-

Christian Michel James, one of the main accused and middlemen in the Agusta Westland VVIP helicopter deal, talks exclusively to Ashish Singh, assistant editor, NewsX, claiming that a few bigger names from Finmeccanica are also involved in the scam. He adds that the Tyagi brothers, Gautam Khaitan and Haschke were planning some other deals as well in power and transport. Q. So you are saying that Haschke was in touch with Khaitan and Julie Tyagi? A. That I am aware of. Q. What was the nature of contact? I am asking this question because S.P. Tyagi in an interview given to me had admitted that his cousin brother and a few family members had business interests with Haschke and the others. A. Well I know that they were looking at a power deal. Some power deal down South though I don’t know what that was about. They didn’t talk to me much, but I heard them talking about it during a cocktail party. That’s as much as I know. Q. What kind of a power deal could it have been? A. I don’t know. I don’t take any interest in it. But I know that they were talking about some power deal, but I wasn’t interested. Q. So are you saying that Haschke was using the same set of contacts to broker some other deal? A. Yeah they were looking at a lot of other businesses. They were looking at transport, power... Q. So this communication between Haschke, Khaitan and Tyagi was not just restricted to Agusta Westland deal but they were planning other deals too. A. Yes that’s the way I understood it.
