Delhi team comes up with a new identity

NEW DELHI: A revamped Delhi franchise Delhi Sultans owned by renowned media mogu Annurag Batra unveiled their new logo and name for the second season of Pro Wrestling League, in the presence of team captain Sakshi Malik, Team Coach Kuldeep Singh and the league owner Mr. Kartikeya Sharma atFlyp by MTV, Connaught Place, New Delhi. The event was graced by the Chief Guest Mr.Anurag Thakur, Member of Parliament &President, BCCI.

With a new season beckoning, the team added firepower in the form of Sakshi Malik, BajrangPun­iya and Mariya Stadnik to name a few. The squad is a formidable one with a perfect mix of youth and experience across all weight categories. The new identity of the team symbolizes the true essence of the city and is in perfect blend with the squad which is called “Delhi Sultans”.

The roster of the team boasts of names like Sakshi Malik, Bronze Medalist 2016 Rio Olympics; BajrangPun­iya, Gold Medalist 2016 Commonweal­th Championsh­ip Singapore;MariyaStad­nik, silver medalist 2016 Rio Olympics; and AlinaMakhi­yna, gold medalist 2013 Budapest world Championsh­ip.

Chief Guest MrAnurag Thakur, Member of Parliament &President BCCI said at the occasion, “I would like to wish all the very best to the Delhi Sultans for the 2nd season of the Pro Wrestling League. I have been an avid follower of wrestling and it is the most organic contact sport. With the emergence of a league in the sport, it will definitely help tap a lot of budding wrestlers from India to move up the ladder and represent our country in the future.”

Captain Sakshi Malik said, “I am extremely delighted to be a part of this team. We have some fantastic wrestlers across all weight categories whohave achieved tremendous feats in their career. Delhi has given me a lot of love whenever I have trained in the city for big tournament­s. I hope our team brings joy to the home crowd by putting up a good show in the second of the Pro Wrestling League.”

Delhi Sultans team owner Annurag Batrasaid the new logo and name reflects our positive intent for the upcoming season. “The new logo was crafted keeping in mind the spirit of the city and the passionate fans. We have a fantastic squad this time with some reputed names. Now it’s just about going out there and performing to our potential. With all the games happening in Delhi this time, we expect to have tremendous home support which will definitely help the wrestlers to perform at their best.”

Kartikeya Sharma, Promoter and owner Pro Sportify and Pro Wrestling League said, “The Delhi Sultans team has got one of the most balanced sides in the league, the mix of quality Internatio­nal and national wrestlers shall help them to go a long way.”
