Uttar pradesh gears up to welcome investors

The Uttar Pradesh Government is all set to give a red carpet welcome to domestic and foreign investors through a series of road shows accross the country.

The Delhi Road Show, held at Hotel Taj Mansingh, New Delhi on December 8, 2017 as a “Curtain Raiser” to UP Investors' Summit 2018 was a big success in terms of the quality turnout who attended the event. The audience comprised of well known industrial­ist and diplomats like H. E. Ambassador of Netherland­s, Shri Alphonsus Stoelinga, Shri R C Bhargava, Chairman Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., Shri Kanwaljeet Jawa, MD, Daikin Air Conditioni­ng India Ltd., Shri Sameer Gupta, Chairman, Jackson Engineers Ltd., Shri Patrick Antoni, Deputy Country manager, IKEA Group, Shri Rajneesh Kumar, Senior Vice President, Walmart India, Shri Ronal Cai from CFLD etc. Several B2G meetings were also organized along the side lines of the event, where future investment­s were discussed and modalities were worked out.

“The Uttar Pradesh government is developing a single window system where investors can get the approvals and clearances online. This is part of the government's commitment to provide all kinds of basic infrastruc­ture facilities to investors to set up their units in the state.”

This was stated by Satish Mahana, UP's Industrial Developmen­t Minister, this week, at the first road show as part of the ‘UP Investor Summit, 2018', to be held in the national capital on 21 and 22 February. He said the government aims at attracting an investment of Rs 500,000 crore in the next five years, which will create as many as 20 lakh jobs.

After Delhi, more such road shows will be organized in Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai, in order to make the Summit a grand success. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is likely to take part in the Mumbai road show where he is expected to invite top business houses and film makers to invest in UP.

Addressing the industrial­ists at the road show, Mahana said the state government, led by Yogi Adityanath, has taken several initiative­s to create a conducive atmosphere for investment in the state. A new industrial policy has been drafted after consultati­ons from the industrial­ists, which will be beneficial for the investors, said the Minister and added that it (the policy) has been appreciate­d by several countries. He said the state is ready for more and more investemen­t.

Mahana assured the investors that, under the new industrial policy, they will be provided land, technologi­cal support, and several other facilities. He said the state has immense potential for developmen­t and investment. The Minister assured the investors that they will be provided all possible support, including security, for smooth operation of their units.

He said Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, Eastern Dedicated freight Corridor, Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Poorvancha­l Expressway, which will pass through UP, will provide faster communicat­ion.

The road show was a curtain raiser for the mega Summit. On this occasion, the UP government showcased its new industrial policy besides presenting opportunit­ies of investment in UP including in the three areas of Gautam Budh Nagar (Noida), Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway areas. The curtain raiser to the Summit was aptly articulate­d by Mahana as a taste of things coming up in Uttar Pradesh.

The event was attended by senior bureaucrat­s including Anup Chandra Pandey, Infrastruc­ture and Developmen­t Commission­er; Alok Sinha, Principal Secretary, Infrastruc­ture and Industrial Developmen­t; Debashish Panda, CEO, Greater Noida; Alaknanda Dayal, Secretary, Infrastruc­ture and Industrial Developmen­t Department and Ranvir Prasad, MD, UPSIDC among others.

At the road show, the officials rolled out the red carpet for the who's who of industry fraternity. The meet was attended by over 350 decision makers including Ambassador of Netherland­s, Alphonsus Stoelinga and industrial­ists. This is to be noted that Netherland will be the country partner of the Summit. Several B2G meetings were also organised along the side lines of the event, where future investment­s and modalities were discussed. The logo and the website of UP Investors' Summit 2018 was launched during the event and was followed by a presentati­on on the investment potential and opportunit­ies in UP by Alok Sinha.
