Nintendo’s Animal Crossing is hit by serious server snags, loading issues

- ANDREW GRIFFIN

The launch of Nintendo’s huge Animal Crossing game has been blighted by server problems.

The first mobile game based on Nintendo’s Animal Crossing series, and allows them to make their own campsite. It’s proved incredibly popular—and that popular has apparently led to the game breaking.

The company has acknowledged the issues and says they will be fixed soon. But it’s just the latest of its mobile games to be hit by problems after it came out.

The massive interest followed by immediate issues recalls the launch of Pokemon Go, which was also un- able to cope with the sheer number of people playing it. Like with that game, developers have committed to working to fix the issues and allow anyone to play when they want.

The problems meant that people trying to load the game instead just find it unable to load. It would also sometimes crash once it had started up.

Now Nintendo has ac- knowledged the issues, and offered to fix them.

The problems are the result of “high traffic”, according to a pop-up that is sometimes showing to players.

“The issue is still occurring intermittently,” it continues. “Please be aware that we are investigating it and will resolve it as soon as possible. Thank you to those users who have contacted us or left feedback regarding this issue.”

The company is also giving out money that can be spent within the game, apparently to make up for the issues being experienced by players. THE INDEPENDENT
