‘Nothing beats quality time with family and friends’

Q. How did you come up with the idea of your clothing brand?

A. I saw a huge difference between fashion in the West and India. Here, men’s fashion was yet to adapt to the changes that were happening to menswear globally. I wanted to bridge that gap, and it was conceptualised when Mufti was founded in 1998, with an ambition of providing an alternative dressing solution that didn’t conform with the uniform codes of mainstream fashion.

Q. What is your mantra for becoming a successful entrepreneur?

A. There is no mantra to be a successful entrepreneur, but there are qualities and factors which I think are imperative. One must have the determination to make their dreams come true and one must have the attitude to learn and adapt to situations. Having faith, patience and persistence is necessary.

Q. How has the journey been for your brand?

A. The journey has been amazing and one to cherish. With all the ups and downs, it has proved to be an adventurous one, owing to the position that the brand has been able to achieve in the retail industry. Keeping the core values at the centre, we have strived to provide an altogether unique and alternative lifestyle which is not only fashionable, but at the same time, makes for a comfortable fit.

Q. What do you do in your leisure time?

A. I spend my leisure time with my family and friends, nothing beats quality time with family and friends.

Q. Which is your favourite place in Mumbai and why? A. Since Bandra is where I was born and brought up, that place is definitely special for me.
