In­te­gra­tion of BrahMos on Su-30MKI

Fol­low­ing the launch of a BrahMos ALCM mis­sile from a mod­i­fied Su-30MKI (SB-200) on 22 Novem­ber 2017, it is re­ported that work has be­gun to mod­ify a to­tal of 42 such air­craft, the pro­gramme to be com­pleted by 2020. HAL’s Nasik Di­vi­sion will be car­ry­ing out the struc­tural mod­i­fi­ca­tions to in­te­grate the 2.5 tonne mis­sile, which in­volves me­chan­i­cal, elec­tri­cal and soft­ware mod­i­fi­ca­tions. The Mach 3 BrahMos has a range of 290km, which range can re­port­edly be ex­tended upto 400 kms with cer­tain tech­ni­cal re­stric­tions lifted af­ter In­dia be­came a full mem­ber of the Mis­sile Tech­nol­ogy Con­trol Regime (MTCR) in 2016.
