The Yacht Life

This year’s Singapore Yacht Show not only attracted the most coveted yachts and superyachts known to marine enthusiasts, but also debuted some of the latest collections in the yachting scene.

Early April this year, ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove in Singapore was at its busiest as the 2017 Singapore Yacht Show (SYS) took place. Dubbed the “Monaco of the East”, Singapore has always been recognised as the region's business hub for luxury yachting, so it's only natural that the annual event managed to attract numerous exhibitors, not to mention thousands of leisure-marine lifestyle enthusiasts and potential buyers from around the world.

The four-day event that ran from 6th to 9th April proudly welcomed the who's who of the local boating industry like Hong Seh Marine, SG Boating, Azimut Singapore, Boat Lagoon Yachting, Simpson Marine, and international brands like Ferretti Group, Grand Banks, Gulf Craft, Princess Yachts, Sunseeker, Sunreef and many more. Visitors were visibly excited, looking forward to the world's biggest and most famed superyacht builders. Names like Amels, Baglietto, Benetti, Echo Yachts, Heesen, Lürssen, Westport, Fincantieri, Sanlorenzo and especially Silveryachts evoked immense anticipation from marine devotees.

More than just a glorious exhibition of yachts and the like, the 2017 SYS also

showcased an amazing array of yacht toys and accessories. From three-person submarines, flyboards, seabobs, inflatable slides and climbing walls, to the Deep Trekker from Marine Commerce – a remotely operated vehicle that functions like an underwater drone.

Above all, however, the show stealers of the pumping events were the recordbreaking number of new yachts making their regional debut at the 2017 SYS. Attracting the most buzz was the sleek 77m Silverfast by Silveryachts, the longest in the exhibition. Just as impressive were newcomers like the tri-deck catamaran Charley, Simpson Marine's Beneteau Oceanis Yacht 62 and the Beneteau Gran Turismo 46, Blue Lagoon Yachting's Princess S60 and Ferretti Group's Pershing 5X.

PRINCESS S60

Featuring an elegantly sleek exterior, the Princess S60 features an optimised hull form enabling a dynamic and agile stance, plus greater efficiency making it able to reach speeds of up to 38 knots. With a capacity that can accommodate up to six guests, the Princess S60 has an en-suite full-beam master stateroom, two guest cabins, a spacious deck area, an openplan dining area, and she even has a large stern garage from which to launch and store a jet ski. Combining classy design, exceptional engineering and meticulous craftsmanship, this Princess definitely takes the crown.

PERSHING 5X

Ferreti Group proudly presented this sultry European at the 2017 SYS, inviting mesmerised stares from visitors. A collaborative effort between Ferretti Group's engineering department, product strategy committee and Fulvio De Simoni Design Studio, the Pershing 5X boasts distinctive signature stylistic features including side wings to protect the cockpit, and four windows on each side of the hull with elliptical portholes. The blend of essential design elements, lacquered frames and fabrics in soft grey shades, makes the Pershing 5X a sight to behold. Add to that the stylish full-beam master suite with en-suite bathroom and dinette in front of the galley and she is definitely the lady about town.
