Thomas Burberry

Few fashion brands can match the prestige and history associated with the iconic British fashion house Burberry. The brand's founder, Thomas Burberry, started off as an apprentice at a local shop, before striking out on his own to design outdoor attire for men in 1856. His line of weatherproofs were favoured by dignitaries such as Lord Kitchener and Lord Baden-powell for their outstanding quality and tasteful cut.

Burberry opened its first store in Haymarket in 1891 to much fanfare. Famous for its trench coats, Burberry supplied British soldiers in World War I and in the decades after. For services rendered to the British Empire, it was awarded Royal Warrants by Queen Elizabeth II and the Prince of Wales. In recent times, famous models and movie stars, such as current brand ambassador Emma Watson, have continued the Burberry tradition of associating the brand with public figures that reflect its classic English beauty and poise.
