The watchmaking industry is currently going through a challenging phase, which particularly affects the global point of convergence where the leading players in the industry meet up: Baselworld. Due to the fact that Baselworld 2017 saw a decline in attendance —a total of 106,000 buyers from more than 100 countries attended Baselworld 2017, down 4 percent from the previous year—and reported a 13 percent drop in the number of exhibitors, the show organizers are shortening the show from eight to six days next year. Scheduled to begin on march 22 until 27, Baselworld 2018 will maintain the attractiveness of the show and its global impact by remaining faithful to the strategy which favors quality and leverages diversity in all sectors.
