NEW FACE, NEW CHALLENGES
Compared to the past couple of years, 2019 has seen relatively few changes in senior management of major watch brands. Back in April, however, Baume & Mercier announced the appointment of a new CEO, David Chaumet. With more than 15 years in the watchmaking industry, Chaumet takes charge of the company at a time of change.
Most notably was the launch, last year, of Baume Watches, a brand of affordable watches aimed at a younger audience. Unsurprisingly, many people mistook the new outfit for the long-established watchmaker. That being said, Baume & Mercier has made quite a showing in 2019 so far, with exciting new additions to the Baumatic line (these were introduced at SIHH 2019, well before Chaumet joined the company) and other models like the Baume & Mercier Clifton Club Bronze that really emphasizes the sporty spirit of the Clifton Club collection.
