WITH NEW ADDITIONS FOR UP IN THE AIR AND DOWN IN THE SEA, BREITLING SHOWCASES THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
With new additions for adventures up in the air and journeys down into the sea, Breitling showcases the best of both worlds
AVIATOR 8 MOSQUITO
This year, Breitling created a watch to honor the de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito, a British aircraft whose lightweight wooden construction made it one of the fastest planes in the skies in the early 1940s. Titled the Breitling Aviator 8 Mosquito, this watch wears its dual design influences proudly: It recalls the design values of the onboard instruments designed by Breitling’s Huit Aviation Department and those of the Ref. 765 AVI—the Co-Pilot—whose bold look, rotating bezel and impressive legibility with oversized Arabic numerals made it a favorite among aviators.
Up front on the dial, its striking red and orange accents recall the roundels and markings featured on the fuselage of the de Havilland Mosquito and add to the watch’s allure. All in all, the Aviator 8 Mosquito from Breitling is an affectionate reminder of one of the world’s true aviation successes.
SUPEROCEAN OUTERKNOWN
Back in 2018, Breitling celebrated its partnership with Outerknown—a sustainable apparel brand co-founded by surfing legend and Breitling Surfers Squad member Kelly Slater— with the Superocean Heritage Chronograph 44 Outerknown.
This year, the brand announced two new launches in partnership with Outerknown: a new Superocean Outerknown and the first Outerknown ECONYL yarn NATO strap collection.
The new Superocean Outerknown comes in a 44mm stainless steel case with a ratcheted unidirectional bezel, a feature that allows divers to time their dives accurately. Meanwhile, the Outerknown strap collection consists of 18 models which will dress up any Breitling watch and are crafted using ECONYL yarn, a material created from regenerated nylon waste, one source of which is fishing nets from the world’s oceans.
All in all, through its partnerships with Outerknown, Breitling underscored its commitment to keep the oceans clean, while marking another step forward in their shared focus on sustainability.
