Music:
Kendrick Lamar shows his versatility in his latest album “DAMN.”
“Damn” sums it up just right. Kendrick Lamar has—somehow— brilliantly created another album that is as rhythmically, aesthetically and lyrically exquisite as his previous albums. Now, “DAMN.” is still packed with the singer’s anxieties, fear and difficulties. But in this album, the tracks don’t necessarily follow a central theme. Like its lead single “HUMBLE” that calls on other hip-hop artists to be, well, humble, or “DNA.” where Lamar adopts multiple viewpoints in exploring his heritage and culture. It looks like Lamar has ditched the norms of making an album and just freely rapped. And there’s nothing wrong with that. As a matter of fact, it just further shows his diversity, creativity and, most of all, it shows what Kendrick Lamar is all about.
