Seren­ity and sta­bil­ity were among the ideas Givenchy’s ex-cre­ative direc­tor Ric­cardo Tisci wanted to com­mu­ni­cate through his spring/ sum­mer 2017 menswear col­lec­tion. These ideas were ex­pressed through the Amer­i­can dol­lar bill—lit­er­ally. Mod­els were seen sport­ing money-print cam­ou­flage, along with sym­bols of the pyra­mid and the eye of providence. The words “REAL EYES. RE­AL­IZE. REAL EYES.” were in­scribed on bags and eye­wear re­tain­ers. The heavy-duty look was made even sterner with bold metal­lic zip­pers and zip­per pock­ets. Checked tops and jack­ets, along with an army-green checked back­pack and boots fur­ther strength­ened the whole tough and mil­i­tary look, em­body­ing Ric­cardo Tisci’s idea of the lux­u­ri­ous and re­silient modern man.
