The Devil’s in the Details

-

Little things always make a big difference in the world of horology. IWC’s new Portugieser Chronograph Classic is one prime example. The latest edition of this watch sees the dial tweaked to perfection. Instead of seconds markers on the flange (outer rim of the dial), this chronograph now features a railway-track-styled ring surrounding the three-dimensional Arabic numerals. The in-house automatic movement caliber 89361, with 68 hours of power reserve, also makes it possible for the flyback chronograph mechanism to record up to 12 hours—note the chronograph hour and minute counter at 12 o’clock and the longest central hand for the seconds. Last but not least, this 42mm timepiece arrives in three different variations: one in 18K red gold, another in stainless steel with a silver dial as well as a stainless steel model with a blue dial.
