extra-flat
The debut of Drive de Cartier last year marked an interesting chapter for the French
maison that often does couple timepieces. Drive de Cartier is actually designed for men, and the original cushion-shaped case of 38mm x 39mm (but with a round caseback) fits really snugly on a masculine wrist.
This year, Cartier takes the classic ticker with the two-hand dial even further with the introduction of the Extra-Flat case, the slimmest in the collection. The 6.6mm-thick case (which is 40 percent less than its predecessor) makes a big difference visually and tangibly when worn on the wrist. To make that reduction possible, the watch now runs on a manual-winding movement caliber 430MC. While the pink gold variant really fares well for cocktail parties and on the red carpets, the white gold version, which is limited to 200 pieces only, has the versatility of an elegant daily-wear timepiece and a minimalistic companion to a black-and-white tuxedo.
