Elijah Rodriguez may only have two films to his name and one more in postproduction, but all of the films he plays in are top of the line titles. In 2014, he voiced one of the characters in the animated film “The Book of Life.” Last June, he starred in “Sicario: Day of the Soldado” as Miguel Hernandez, playing opposite Benecio del Toro and Josh Brolin. Soon, we may just witness him in a breakthrough role in the thriller film “We Die Young,” where he will play one of the main characters alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme.

“The story takes place in the slums of Washington D.C. over a span of 24 hours,” Rodriguez said of his upcoming movie. “My character, Lucas, who was inducted into a gang, has decided that he doesn’t want his younger brother to go down the same path. He has 24 hours to get out of D.C. with the help of Daniel—Van Damme—before his gang lord catches on.” The film itself has generated quite a lot of buzz, especially from Oscar and Emmy-nominated film and television director Lior Geller, whose 2007 short film “Roads” holds the Guinness World Record for Most Awards Won by a Short Student Film.

There are also strong hints that Rodriguez will appear in the third “Sicario” title, or maybe in other genres. “Next, I’d like to work on a comedy- adventure flick and sitcoms,” he revealed. Though only time will tell what’s in store for the young actor, one thing’s for certain, Elijah Rodriguez is not going anywhere. “I always liked telling stories and through acting I’m able to tell characters’ stories, as well as my drive to be one of the best actors in the film industry and wanting to leave my mark on the world.”
