The Arceau watches from Hermès— designed by Henri d’Origny back in 1978—is the epitome of formal classicism tinged with singularity. This year, the brand released a new interpretation of this watch with a superbly complex mechanical architecture. Titled the Arceau Squelette, this watch comes in a round steel case with a smoked sapphire crystal dial, which then shows the transparency of the center revealing the skeletonized movement. Uniquely, the cut-out numerals and the Hermès signature appear to be levitating. Equipped with a mechanical self-winding movement, the watch is completed by a black alligator strap crafted by the artisans of Hermès Horloger, as indeed are the case and dial.
