FAIRMONT SPANISH WINE DINNER

-

Fairmont Jakarta had the privilege of hosting the brilliant Spanish winemaker Bodegas Altanza for a wine dinner tasting on 4th March. Bodegas Altanza brought with it a selection of the winemaker’s finest vintages to pair with the elegant five-course special menu prepared by View Restaurant’s very own culinary maestro Chef Hans Christian. The winemaker’s regional brand ambassador, Sherwin Lao, played gracious host for the night, regaling diners with sumptuous stories and intriguing facts about the esteemed Bodegas Altanza and Spanish wines.

To start off the delicious proceedings, a canapé selection of earthy mushroom bruschettas, scrumptious apple pies and dainty Catalan crèmes was accompanied by the light and fruity Lealtanza Blanco 2014. The first course served was a Peruvian-inspired hamachi ceviche with smoked tomato, which was complemented with the tart Capitoso 2013 vintage. Following on from this was charred octopus, jamon, salsa with a garlic sauce hinting at a Mediterranean influence paired with the fruity Lealtanza Crianza 2012. The third course was the Iberico pork belly salad with black olive and manchego cheese. The bodacious Lealtanza Crianza 2010 vintage matched beautifully with the dish. The main course was a gorgeously cooked beef striploin, accompanied by a mini bravas gratin and salsa verde, matching delightfully by the oaky Lealtanza Gran Reserva 2008. To finish off the delightful dinner, the classic tres leches cake with mixed berries was served.
