On the island where beachfront, right-on-thesand beach clubs and dining destinatio­ns are de rigueur, Above Rooftop Lounge & Bar dares to be different and brings elevation to Bali’s dining scene. Perched on the sixth and top floor of Four Points by Sheraton Bali, Seminyak, Above Rooftop boasts vibrant views of the happening Seminyak area from the top.

The restaurant exudes a casual-chic vibe, playing with a soft blend of colours, stylishly eclectic furnishing and iconic pièces de résistance, two murals of an Asian-Dutch lady wearing Balinese headgear and Chinese dress – portraying the combinatio­n of Asian cultures found in the menu. Offering a wide range of Southeast Asian cuisine, diners can revel in the varied selection of Asian comfort food – from Balinese tuna sambal matah and Japanese gindara meshi, to Indian samosa with tamarind chutney and chat masala and Vietnamese bo pia cold roll.

The selection of Above’s signature cocktails also embodies the fusion culture, showcasing a modern homage to muchloved classics. Take The Mule Above, for example, is a Mediterran­ean play on the classic cocktail originally created in Little Moscow, Manhattan, using Above’s signature homemade ginger beer.

Leading the culinary team is Executive

Chef Wiweko Elnanto – known as Chef Koko, who aims to craft creative Asian dishes, but which are still authentic in terms of flavour and character. “I try to treat all the dishes at Above as signatures,” he said. “We also work with a local cocktail consultant to create food and drink selections that go hand in hand.”
