Connecting with Biyan

Biyan held his annual show on Monday, May 15 at The Dharmawangsa, in collaboration with Samsung Galaxy S8. The fashion/tech partnership was in line with the designer’s vision of embracing the connected world of today. Hence, the theme of the spring/summer 2018 show: Elsewhere. “The rhythm of the world is getting faster and life gets more complex,” Biyan said. Juxtaposing that with his creative process, something which requires one to contemplate, the designer has come up with an “out- of-the-box” collection. The contradictions between the fast and slow manifest into combinations of compositions. For instance, two pieces of clothing that are sewn into one. The result is something feminine yet full of textures. The collection shows a new phase, out of the typically ethereal, for Biyan as a designer.
