CLé DE PEAU BEAUTE, a high prestige brand of Shiseido Group that combines Japanese aesthetics with French science, launched its fall/winter 2017 collection in Singapore. The highlight of the event, which was held on Friday, May 26, was the presence of actress Amanda Seyfried, a Clé de Peau Beaute brand ambassador of seven years.

The presentation was held at The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, led by Director of Clé de Peau Beaute Laboratory Ishimatsu Takayuki. He unveiled the science behind the reformulated Le Sérum, one of Clé de Peau Beaute’s signature products. The reformulation is based on the Intuitive Skin Theory that the brand spent years researching on. The theory believes that the skin has its own ability to select ingredients that it finds beneficial. As a result, the new formula helps the skin to get into its naturally radiant state.

The serum, which goes beyond the surface of the skin, moisturises, nourishes and softens it to prepare it for the next product application. The new formula, tested on 101 Asian women in Singapore, is believed to dramatically rejuvenate the skin after four weeks of daily application.

Next up was Amanda’s hour. The petite actress, clad in a navy blue mini dress that hugged her curves, matching pumps, and light makeup. It was hard to believe that Amanda had just given birth two months before. The new mother was clearly glowing, and her face lit up even brighter every time there was a question about motherhood. “I feel the most feminine I’ve ever been – and the most empowered.”

Making herself comfortable on a sofa, she held a cup of green tea in her hand. When asked about the things she love the most about Clé de Peau Beaute, the actress mentioned about the lipstick. “The thing about lipstick is it’s very hard to wear if you constantly eat. And I’m always eating or drinking something, and this goes on so easily and and comes off so easily. It doesn’t clump up.” Her favourite shade from the collection, which she regarded as “the most colourful Clé de Peau Beaute has ever been,” is the Dragon Red.

The collection is indeed inspired by Chinese art. While sharing about the new series, Amanda thought of her recent trip to China. “I went to China for the first time

last year, and the way the collection captures China is very apt, I think.”

The new mother then talked about how motherhood has changed her idea of beauty. “Some days, I don’t even look at the mirror to check what’s going on. It’s really liberating. I just spent so much less time worrying about how I look, and just trusting that I’m taking care of myself. It’s kind of amazing,” she beams. “And I guess if you’re using the right products for you, you don’t have to be so thoughtful about it. It’s great.”

Later that night, the complete fall/winter collection was unveiled at a gala night at the Supreme Court Terrace of National Gallery. Incoming guests could discover the collection at a pop-up booth, while Clé de Peau Beaute makeup artists were ready to give a quick makeover.

Guests enjoyed a four-course dinner, marked by titles in line with the new collection: The Awakening, The Discovery, The Pinnacle of Radiance and The Grand Finale. In between courses, the reformulated Le Sérum was unveiled with a sophisticated ballerina performance depicting the search for a radiant awakening, in line with the brand’s “Radiance from Within” tagline.

Right before dessert was served, guests were presented with a showcase of five key looks from the fall/ winter collection. Nobuko Yamada and Toyoyoshi Shinotsuka from Clé de Peau Beaute Japan deomonstrated the use of the new lipstick and intensifying liquid eyeliner from the collection. The collection, is developed by Clé de Peau Beaute Makeup Creative Director, Lucia Pieroni.

The night concluded with the departure of Amanda, accompanied by actor husband Thomas Sadoski. Her radiant smile left a lasting impression among the guests.
