October 26 In association with watch auction house Bacs & Russo, Phillips New York will launch an auction, Winning Icons — Legendary Watches of the 20th Century, offering some of the most important Rolex timepieces in history. This includes the singular Rolex “Paul Newman” Cosmograph Daytona, owned and cherished by the Hollywood legend. A gift from his wife Joanne Woodward, it features the inscription, “Drive Carefully Me”, on its case back, and was sported by Newman for many years. The piece, which also features the red Daytona designation at six o’clock, is estimated to rake in more than US$1 million.
