October 2 To kick-start the final quarter of this year, Sotheby’s Hong Kong will offer a range of works by artists trained in, or influenced by, the ink painting tradition at its Contemporary Ink Art: Confluence auction. Leading the line-up is this masterpiece by German-French painter Hans Hartung, who is known for his gestural abstract style. Featuring ink, acrylic and pastel on paper, it represents Hartung’s deliberate exploration of space and movement using bold brushstrokes and solid black ink. It’s expected to clinch between HK$400,000 and $600,000.
