IN LINE WITH its mis­sion to dress con­fi­dent, en­er­getic women, Karen Millen launches its Fall/ Win­ter 2017 cam­paign, #WORKINGIT. The cam­paign adds a touch of pol­ish to life’s ev­ery mo­ment, trans­form­ing the mun­dane work­ing week to be brighter, glossier and more ex­tra­or­di­nary. As the brand says: “When you slip on your favourite dress, tai­lor­ing or shoes, you walk taller, smile brighter and move with con­fi­dence – you com­mand at­ten­tion ef­fort­lessly, no mat­ter what life brings your way.”

The cam­paign cap­tures the spirit of the sea­son, from im­mac­u­late tai­lor­ing to the elu­sive 24-hour dress and high-oc­tane evening­wear. The col­lec­tion is di­vided into two ma­jor themes: Come Un­done and Fem­i­nine Gran­deur.

Come Un­done re­works softly struc­tured sil­hou­ettes with draped liq­uid satins and fresh tai­lored cot­tons, fold­ing, drap­ing and belt­ing giv­ing es­sen­tial wardrobe sta­ples a re­fresh. Corsetry draws the eye to the waist on shirts, dresses and sleek tai­lor­ing, cinched with belts and shown off with re­veal-and-con­ceal cut-outs. Graphic lines give a sport-luxe twist to grey melange knits and fresh asym­met­ric one shoul­der tops, while sharp tai­lor­ing is tem­pered with tech­ni­cal fab­ri­ca­tions and sporty el­e­ments for a thor­oughly con­tem­po­rary re­fresh.

Fem­i­nine Gran­deur show­cases ef­fer­ves­cent soft frills and vol­ume con­structed from rich satins and vel­vet lurex jacquards – a lav­ish and con­tem­po­rary ap­proach to dress­ing up. A sea­son of ex­tremes, neck­lines are high or asym­met­ric, while lengths are ei­ther maxi or mi­cro. Rem­i­nis­cent of stylish days gone by, tai­lor­ing nods to the 1980s with sculp­tural shoul­ders, while a slouched drape ef­fect takes its cue from the 1990s. The cold-shoul­der re­mains a key look for the sea­son, up­dated with one sleeve on struc­tured party dresses, while silky-smooth faux fur of­fers a sump­tu­ous way to wrap up against the chill once the party’s over.
