Eric wibowo
Transformation maker
Eric Wibowo found his passion for interior design during his college days, when he decided to decorate his own apartment.
“It was an accidental moment, a big breakthrough,” Wibowo recalls. “All I was doing at first was trying to make my place feel more comfortable. But as it turned out, the results were quite amazing.”
Wibowo went on to teach himself more about interior design, learning mainly through trial and error. He was confident enough about his abilities to launch Eric Wibowo Interiors in Surabaya in 2014. “We are committed to delivering transformative designs that will fulfil each individual’s distinctive needs,” he says of his firm. “Through collaboration with diverse types of clients across the country, we provide services that include design and consultancy, as well as curating furniture and sourcing materials.”
When it comes to the most significant milestones in his career, this holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Design from Swinburne University, Melbourne says he and his team will soon be starting on a suitably transformative project. They will set about converting an existing small office, home office building into a four-star hotel.
“This is a very challenging project for me,” Wibowo says. “It’s not easy to take an existing office and make it livable. Not only that, the building must feel like a four-star hotel, and function like one as well. Guests there must be made to feel as welcome as they would be at home. Luckily, I have a great team helping me make my vision come true.”
