A rollercoaster journey

As Country Head for Indonesia at YCP Solidiance, Gervasius Samosir plays an important role in defining new business models and helping clients drive their business growth. His company, in its current form, is the result of a merger last year of two of Asia’s largest home-grown consulting firms. Together, they have created an Asian consulting powerhouse.

Samosir studied at the Asian Institute of Management and went on to earn an MBA from the Chicago Booth School of Business. He has strong experience in industry, especially in energy, oil and gas, telecoms and industrial products. He has managed several big projects with leading companies in Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines.

“Being trusted to run the operation in Indonesia since the beginning of 2015 has been the most significant milestone in my career so far,” Samosir says. “To grow from four persons to a group of energetic 30 consultants in the Jakarta office has been amazing - to date, it has been a rollercoaster journey.

“My first project for the firm was for a mining client. I was very happy to get it. It was the first boundary that I had reached. From there, we started to become more recognised and to win more clients. Our ambitions grew, and pushed us to grow the business even further. I hope that through working for YCP Solidiance, I can contribute to a small change towards a better Indonesia, to see our clients grow their businesses and bring a positive impact to society and communities.”
