Going creative

-

Diving into the fashion industry is one of the steps 27-year-old Stephanie Bubu has taken to move forward after losing her mother earlier this year. Having previously assisted her family’s company, TownSquare Group, with its digital marketing, she decided to help manage the group’s fashion hub in Bali, TStore, which is filled with exclusive designer collections, from prestigious evening wear to timeless casual daywear.

“TStore was born because a lot of local fashion designers were exporting their collections,” Stephanie explains. “The idea was to help them promote their work in their own country. It’s really unfortunate to see these creative people being neglected at home. Whether they’re new designers or established ones, they can expose their work here at TStore. They can do promotions, use the space to do activities, even meet with potential buyers and network.

“The store is also helpful for tourists who want to see Indonesian design and to shop for it conveniently in one place. Every month, we have a TStore Fashion Friday, which is basically a mini private show where guests can come in, mingle, try on the clothes and, we hope, buy them. We showcase five designers each time.”

Stephanie plans to expand TStore into not just a fashion hub but also a creative space. “We want to make a space where all of these creative people in Bali can connect. Whether you are a designer, model, photographer, blogger, you can meet up here and connect. You can do a workshop or a talkshow, or just share ideas.”
