The Legian Seminyak, Bali was designed to offer the very best in Indonesian hospitality, design and style. The muchadmired suite – and villa – only property is not only a standout on the island, but also one of the most renowned hotels in Indonesia. Opened in 1996, The Legian has stood the test of time - still a favourite among luxury travellers in Bali. Thanks to its unparalleled location on one of the island’s finest beaches, exceptional elevated positioning, 67 spectacular sea-facing suites and the threebedroom The Beach House (the only private villa with direct beach access in Seminyak), this exclusive grande dame of a hotel, situated alongside its sister property The Club by The Legian, continues to attract the great and the good from around the world.

The Legian offers some of Bali’s most delightful and sought-after accommodations. Each suite offers a superb sea-facing view. Guests have a variety of options – whether it’s a beachfront sanctuary for two or a multibedroom suite for groups of friends or families. There is also The Beach House, a threebedroom villa with a pool and one of only two villas in Bali with direct beach access. The Beach House was designed to accommodate spectacular weddings and special events.

For the ultimate in exclusivity, there is the super-stylish The Club by The Legian Seminyak, Bali. Located adjacent to the hotel’s main entrance, this private estate houses a 30-metre pool, a private outdoor seating area and 14 private pool villas. It offers dedicated butler service, private car service, laundry, daily afternoon tea, cocktails and canapés, and a complimentary in-room minibar.

The interiors of both The Legian and The Club were styled by a celebrated Indonesian designer, the late Jaya Ibrahim. They typify a chic, understated and locally inspired design aesthetic. Born in Yogyakarta, Ibrahim was the son of a Sumatran diplomat and a Javanese princess. His childhood was spent travelling with his parents and living in the Yogyakarta house of his maternal grandmother, absorbing Javanese culture.

Ibrahim spent 20 years working for designer and hotelier Anouska Hempel before returning to Indonesia to establish his own studio. The Legian was one of his defining solo projects. He went on to design other

properties, including The Chedi Muscat, Oman, the Aman Summer Palace, Beijing, and The Setai in South Beach Miami. The Legian’s architect was another Indonesian great, Hendra Hadiprana.

The food at The Legian is renowned, drawing diners from all over the island. Overlooking the hotel’s renowned three-tiered infinity pool, The Restaurant combines Asian influences and local cooking techniques with the best of organic and sustainable seasonal ingredients. Meanwhile, The Pool Bar and

The Ocean Champagne Bar offer light entrees and cocktails throughout the day.

Beyond the hotel, The Seminyak area is the foodie capital of Bali. Thanks to The Legian’s location, guests have easy access to delicious, top-quality local cuisine and worldclass beach clubs, with favourite spots nearby including Ku De Ta and La Lucciola.

The Legian boasts an outstanding spa, located in the property’s South Garden. Of stylishly subtle and minimalistic design, The Spa at The Legian provides a holistic, calming ambience, as well as an extensive menu of signature experiences and rituals delivered in beachfront treatment rooms.

Signature treatments include an indulgent Four Hands Massage and the popular Balinese Ancient Massage, which incorporates Balinese healing rituals. The spa features four single and two double beachfront treatment rooms. The wellness area has a warm plunge whirlpool, refreshing cold plunge pool, spacious sauna and steam rooms, as well as manicure and pedicure lounges, a spa boutique and gym. Complimentary daily morning yoga classes and a wide range of outdoor activities, including surfing, water sports and personal training sessions, are available.
