Summer is coming, with plenty of sunny days ahead encouraging people to spend time outdoors. This year’s summer, however, is definitely rather unusual as health and safety become increasingly major concerns when planning even the most basic activities – even something as simple and common as breakfast. On the flip side, it has spurred many towards expanded creativity. On that note, Prodotti Indonesia presents an elevated breakfast experience in the garden inspired by the Flexform Outdoor Collection, prepared on location at Flexform Jakarta (Jl. Kemang Raya no. 56).

Steven Oen, Senior Marketing Manager and Sales Manager of Prodotti Indonesia, remarked how outdoor dining became the main source of inspiration due to the travel restrictions we have today and how most people are hesitant to go out but at the same time feel a longing for the usual summer destinations. “So, why don’t we use our gardens to create a dream holiday breakfast while we enjoy the scenery and healthy morning sunlight?” he suggested.

“In this particular time, we miss the scenery of the island of Capri in Italy with its signature lemons and the white and blue of its buildings,” Oen continued. “We are trying to bring forth the feel of that scenery through this table setting. But we have also incorporated local elements as a nod to where we are right now.”

The Fly Outdoor table and Ortigia Outdoor dining chairs become the highlight of the dining experience based on the Flexform Outdoor Collection. These pieces – crafted in Italy – are known for their timeless elegance, light contemporary touch and materials that are designed to last. Sitting on top of the table, Alexander Lamont’s Reef Vessel and Fuma bowls become the centrepieces of the table. These pieces, by the way, were chosen to celebrate the brand’s 20th anniversary which happens this year along with its collection for 2020, the Sirena.

Moving on, customised Pierre Frey fabrics injects extra dimension into the setting. “Two fabrics were selected to be presented: artisanal tie-dye for the table linen and ikat fabric for the napkins. For the flower arrangements, we use Birds of Paradise alongside other tropical flowers,” Oen elaborated. “Through the flowers and fabrics, we wanted to present a local touch. Even though the products are not from Indonesia, but the setting certainly has an Indonesian feel to it.”

For the actual meal items, a continental style breakfast – consisting of various breads and pastries, fresh fruit and juices, along with coffee and tea – was chosen as a way to start off a new day in the freshest way possible. These were served on tableware and drinkware from Alegre’s Orquestra and Ornaments collections, along with silverware from the Taglio collection by Topazio.

After the breakfast service has concluded, it is then time to relax before facing the challenges of the day. What better way to do so than in the comfort of one’s own terrace on a Vulcano sofa designed by Antonio Citterio? The distinct woven pattern on this piece of furniture is an important element of the Flexform collection. Meanwhile, an Alison armchair by Carlo Colombo becomes a delegate for contemporary Scandinavian design in the setting. Both become the perfect platforms to enjoy the rest of the day.
