COUTURE COMFORT
Contemporary, versatile, and customisable, the Connery seating system is the perfect centrepiece for any home or office space
WITHIN THE REALM OF DESIGN – whether it’s in architecture or fashion, haute joillairie or haute horlogerie, and even software and web programming – the best expressions of creativity balances form and function. And as more and more homeowners are discovering, this notion also rings true in the realm of furniture design.
Case in point: the Connery seating system designed by Rodolfo Dordoni for Minotti.
It goes without saying that this seating system is immaculately constructed to offer the utmost in comfort. At the same time, it also presents the perfect statement piece to act as the centre of any home or office space. In short, Minotti’s Connery seating system can elevate the aesthetic value of any space, while at the same time providing a restful respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
As a whole, the Connery seating system sports a contemporary style, punctuated with strong architectural elements and pure lines reminiscent of mid-century American aesthetics. The overall design really stands out amid an interior setting, allowing the seating system to really stand out as a centrepiece in its own right. There are event hints of couture qualities achieved through a clever combination of sophisticated details and refined materials.
Starting from the bottom up, the Connery’s base in made of weight-bearing blades in extruded brushed aluminium featuring a polished and varnished Brandy finish. This exclusive finish was developed by Minotti Studio and involves a high-quality hand-finishing process that emphasizes the polished brushed aluminium texture. The small, natural nuances created through this process ensures that each piece is unique. Moreover, the base is raised from the ground to create an airy look that is also reminiscent of the metal parts commonly found on trunks and suitcases.
The padded structural base can also feature a covering with strips of leather. The crafting of these elements utilizes the same techniques used in the creation of luxury leather luggage.
The geometrically-solid base contrasts nicely against the soft seat as well as the backrest and armrest. As for the armrests and backrests themselves, these are constructed using plywood of various thicknesses which are coated in high-resilience variable-density polyurethane foam and then encased in channelled goosed own quilting for extra softness.
And speaking of softness, the seat cushion and its internal casing feature a subtle quilted
pattern with a double embroidery and quilt stitching, which highlights the linear yet soft shape of the seat.
The Connery seating system also includes Flap table top surfaces made of bent 8mm thick aluminium sheet. These are upholstered in leather – once again in the style of fine leather goods – or in ash veneer with open-pore Moka colour lacquer finish. This particular element adds to the lively rhythm of the sofa’s arrangement, but maintain a low visual impact that doesn’t take away from the overall design of the seating system.
Even more importantly, the Connery is a very versatile seating system, both in terms of material combinations – as touched on repeatedly before – and also when it comes to composition. There are corner and open-end elements that can easily fit with either the square or round chaise-lounges in the Connery range. It goes without saying that these setups also pair really well with other items in Minotti’s extensive portfolio. A Boteco coffee table, for example, can add some texture to the room, and a Kyle side table can fit neatly at the end of the sofa.
With this combination of versatility and functionality, wrapped in exquisite couture craftsmanship, Connery can easily take centre state in any living space.
