EVA Air’s new non-stop flights add to its services throughout Asia, offering 80 flights per week across the Pacific by the end of 2016 24

va air’s first taipei to Chicago flight arrived at O’hare Internatio­nal Airport in the US at 4pm on November 2. On board were EVA Air President Derek Chen and around 300 passengers who enjoyed a pleasant 14-hour flight across the Pacific. Ginger Evans, Chicago Department of Aviation Commission­er, greeted the flight at the gate with a warm welcome.

“We have steadily developed, expanded and upgraded our global network, and Chicago is an important link,” said EVA President Chen. “Offering 80 flights a week to Asia by the end of this year, EVA Air’s flight frequency will outnumber that of every other airline in this market.” EVA will fly its new Boeing 777-300ERS between O’hare Internatio­nal Chicago and Taoyuan Internatio­nal Taipei and will offer four nonstop flights per week.

Air Supply, the Australian soft-rock duo, will celebrate their 40th anniversar­y with a “Celebratio­n of Love” special concert at The Casablanca Mall, Kota Kasablanka. Full Color Entertainm­ent set the ticket prices from Rp 750,000 (Silver) to Rp 2,500,000 (Diamond VIP). Showtime: 8pm.

04 Sekaten Festival

Sekaten, the traditiona­l Javanese celebratio­n that observes the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, starts with a ritual sound played on a sacred gamelan music set. A royal procession of Gunungan offerings is then transporte­d from the royal palace to the grand mosque, peaking with a seven-day fair at the Yogyakarta city square.

06 Perfect Pianist

Erasmus Huis Jakarta will stage a special concert featuring Christiaan Kuyvenhove­n. As one of the most versatile artists of his generation, he won third prize at the 2005 Internatio­nal Franz Liszt Piano Competitio­n in Utrecht. Venue: Erasmus Huis Jakarta Concert Hall; showtime: 7:30pm.

07 Ceramics Biennale

The National Gallery of Indonesia will stage a month-long Jakarta Contempora­ry Ceramic Biennale 4: “Ways of Clay” at Hall A and Hall B. 21 Indonesian and internatio­nal artists share a three-month residency programme with curators Nurdian Ichsan and Rizki A. Zaelani. Doors open from 9am4pm; free of charge.

09 Let’s Dance

Get ready for the biggest twonight dance music festival in Southeast Asia: the Djakarta Warehouse Project 2016, an original production by Ismaya Live. Line-up: Allan Walker, Brennan Heart, Destructo, Cyber Japan, Zedd, and more. Venue: JIEXPO Kemayoran; tickets: Rp 1,000,000 to Rp 2,500,000.

10 K-pop Monsta
