Afeminine interpretation of the original RM 037 watch, the new RM 037 Gem- Set NTPT is a highlight of Swiss watchmaker Richard Mille’s collection. Exclusively made for women, it is bold, daring and as robust and powerful as any Richard Mille timepiece. The objectives behind the RM 037 were to construct a synthesis; to bring together all the experience Richard Mille has gained since the creation of the brand in one watch. It is spectacular, both technically and aesthetically, with an exceptional level of finishing. Beneath its highly contemporary appearance, the watch also respects all the canons of high-end watchmaking.
Crafted from tough TZP-N black ceramic and red gold with accents of diamonds on the dial, the case houses the skeletonised automatic calibre CRMA1 movement. It is particularly resistant to knocks and scratches and undergoes a long production process, which results in a final matte surface finish. The caseband is in satin 5N red gold with polished pillars, while the pavé diamond inner dial mirrors the shape of the bezel with an oversized date aperture. It displays a large date at 12 o’clock created from two rotating discs, and a function selector that allows choosing between winding, neutral or handsetting, all without the need to pull the crown in different positions.
The case of the RM 037 is available with an 18K red-gold caseband with highly scratchresistant ceramic bezels in ATZ white ceramic, TZP black ceramic, or full cases in 18K red or white gold. These are accompanied by a rich variety of stone settings and dial variants in precious and semi-precious materials such as diamond, onyx, pearl and jasper. The design and execution of the watch demonstrates a complete conceptual approach to the movement, case and dial. As a result, everything has been constructed according to extremely rigorous specifications and in complete harmony.
The watch is powered by a skeletonised movement featuring a baseplate with bridges in black Pvd-treated grade-5 titanium. Microblasted grade-5 titanium with electroplasma treatment gives great rigidity to the baseplate, as well as precise surface flatness, which is essential for the perfect functioning of the gear train. The skeletonised baseplate and the bridges were subjected to separate and extensive validation tests to ensure optimal strength requirements.
The patented stem-crown, which is not linked to the heart of the movement, ensures the mechanism is not affected by external influences, guaranteeing its integrity. Powering the central luminescent redgold hour and minute hands is the calibre CRMA1 movement, which provides a power reserve of up to 50 hours. The movement has been exquisitely crafted, combining satin, chamfered, blasted, brushed and polished finishing, including rare black polishing.
This designed crown allows the integrity of the movement to be fully guaranteed and protected from external influences, since it does not use a classical crown attachment going into the depth of the movement’s heart. The result is that the crown is virtually impossible to dislodge and yet it is easily inserted and removed under the skilful hands of the watchmaker when needed—a typical view towards longevity that typifies the brand’s philosophy. With a special profile for the teeth of the wheels in the going train, a free sprung balance and variable rotor geometry, the RM 037 Gem- Set NTPT is a true Richard Mille at every level.
