Intuitively Inspiring
Indonesia Tatler launches the much-anticipated inaugural edition of its Generation Tatler list with a fun poolside party at the Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta.
All about the Gen-t book, its launch party and the people inside it
isyana Sarasvati, Reza Rahadian and Tulus. Upon hearing their names called loud and clear, two of these prominent Indonesian entertainers stepped up to the stage by the pool at the Azure Restaurant at the Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta. Each talented individual then received a personalised Generation Tatler book— Gen T for short— that lists the country’s high-achieving and promising individuals aged 40 and under at the time of selection.
Filled with happiness, both Reza and Isyana are thankful and proud to being selected as Gen-t honourees. “I hope to continue to inspire people with my music,” Isyana said. Tulus, who was unable to attend the party, conveyed the same sentiments in a video interview for the Gen-t portal on Indonesia Tatler’s website.
Almost all, if not everyone, on the list agreed that Indonesian youth has the potential and the drive to compete on the global stage. Gen-t honourees Adinda Kuntadi, Owner of the ALLIN Group, and Founder and CTO of tiket.com Natali Ardianto are prime examples. “A lot of young women today also have successful careers,” Adinda
said. “However, we have to keep improving, to push ourselves and to be confident in what we do.” Agreeing with Adinda, Natali said that the older generation has to be patient and to be a coach or a mentor for the younger ones: “Not being a boss, teacher, or leader,” he said.
Among those mentors are nine respected and accomplished people across industries that helped Indonesia Tatler choose the honourees in the Gen-t list. Seen at the launch party were Shinta Dhanuwardoyo of Bubu.com, senior photographer Arbain Rambey from Kompas, Catharina Widjaja, director of Gajah Tunggal, Amuz Gourmet Restaurant’s Chef Founder Gilles Marx, and Manoj Punjabi of MD Entertainment.
Congratulations and blessings were sent by the rest of the Tatler Tribe who could not join the party: Group President and CEO of Smailing Tour and Travel Management Company
Anthony Akili, designers Edward Hutabarat and Sebastian Gunawan, and Erik Meijer of Telkomtelstra. Through a tough and tight vetting process, the Tribe members chose 50 young people who excel as entertainers, influencers, philanthropists, designers, entrepreneurs, athletes, and culinary and travel industry players—each with a clear purpose and passion in life. All the young people in the list are already playing their own integral part in the dynamic future of Indonesia and beyond, which is why Gen T is intended to be more than just a list. It’s meant as a platform for communities to connect and collaborate beyond Indonesia through the regional Tatler magazines. Hong Kong Tatler first rolled the ball in 2016 along with issues from the Philippines, Malaysia, Taiwan, China and Singapore; Thailand and Indonesia followed suit this year. Through events and publications aimed at the next generation, the Gen-t platform offers enriching experiences and exclusive content about entrepreneurship, innovation, personal development, lifestyle, and much more. Each and every one of these activities within the Gen-t platform is supported not only by the honourees themselves but also the younger and older Indonesian society members, as the list complements Indonesia Tatler’s 500-name list in Indonesia Tatler Society. Major brand names have shown their patronage, too, withtime International being the biggest this year. For this, it chose five of the 50 Gen-t honourees to represent specific Cartier products matching their style and achievements. Other sponsors who joined the party werethe Padmayana by Adhi Karya, Aqua Reflections, The Glenrothes, Koroleva Caviar and DSP Lifestyle.
