Roger Dubuis and Lamborghini break boundaries with their collaborative timepiece

-

At the top of the game in their respective industries, a collaboration between Roger Dubuis and Lamborghini seemed only natural as Swiss precision meets Italian horsepower. Roger Dubuis and Lamborghini worked together to create a revolutionary new timepiece steeped in aesthetic flair and high-powered performance: the Excalibur Aventador S.

With their R&D driven approaches and shared focus on aesthetics, the partnership between Roger Dubuis and Lamborghini was one born of mutual attraction. Working together with Lamborghini Squadra Corse— the legendary carmaker’s motorsport division—the engineers and designers at Roger Dubuis have created the ultimate experience in haute horlogerie.

Akin to sliding into a Lamborghini, the Excalibur Aventador S combines noble and high-tech materials while ensuring top-rate performance. One of the challenges lay in keeping a sporting and sophisticated look with the materials while maintaining an innate sense of luxury and prestige.

Within the skeletonised Excalibur Spider case, the watch is driven by a most outstanding “engine”. Developed exclusively for this timepiece, the Duotor calibre is inspired by the classic Aventador S engine and the groundbreaking Huracàn Super Trofeo EVO. The reinterpreted movement is an embodiment of the watchmaker’s constant growth in their expertise. The new movement keeps with proud Lamborghini tradition and is fuelled by the allure of technological complexity.

The one-of-a-kind Duotor calibre is easily distinguished by the engine strut bars that revisit the iconic Roger Dubuis Astral Skeleton principle, striking an eye-catching contrast with the rest of the movement. The design also evokes images of a transparent engine hood. The performance-enhancing longitudinal placement of Lamborghini engines is the inspiration behind the placement of the double balance wheel.

Inclined at a similar angle and supported by holders shaped like triangular wheel suspension assemblies, aesthetics and performance come together seamlessly. The power control display makes up the central signature in the middle of the watch—just like in the supercars. Bringing together the various engineering and design marvels is the classic, unmistakable Lamborghini “Giallo Orion” yellow paint code—picked up in a number of design features.

Epitomising the “dare to be rare” concept, Excalibur Aventador S in yellow is available in 88 limited editions.
