mystery since the New Year, the Equanimity super-yacht arrived in the coastal waters of Bali only to be detained by the Indonesian authoritie­s. The ship entered Indonesian waters for recreation­al activities and was identified by the Cayman Island flag it flies. Since the seizure on February 28, the yacht has been anchored about five kilometres from the eastern coast of Badung in Bali.

ts whereabout­s a

dollar theft of funds from 1MDB, a Malaysian state investment company, but has been challenged by the vessel’s owner. The US$250M yacht is among assets that the US Department of Justice asserts were bought by a Malaysian financier using money stolen from the strategic developmen­t company. Meanwhile, Equanimity is the first super-yacht to be built to the new PYC standard, and is designed to accommodat­e up to 26 guests. It is powered by twin 4,828hp diesel engines and can reach a top speed of 19.5 knots.
